How to customise the Glow theme

A practical guide to making Glow yours: update the logo and images, match your brand colours and fonts, set featured products, and configure every homepage section — all from the Shopify theme editor, no code required.

1. Getting started

Glow is a Shopify Online Store 2.0 theme — every layout is built from JSON templates and sections you edit visually. Open the editor from your Shopify admin: Online Store → Themes → Customise.

The editor has two panels: Theme settings (the paintbrush icon — global options like colours, fonts and spacing that apply site-wide) and the section list (per-page sections and their blocks). Start with Theme settings to set your brand, then arrange sections per page.

2. Update your logo & favicon

Go to Theme settings → Logo:

  • Logo — upload your logo image. Use a transparent PNG or SVG at 2× the display size for crisp rendering on retina screens.
  • Logo width — a slider from 50–300px (default 100px). Keep the header logo under ~180px so the navigation breathes on desktop.
  • Favicon — a square 32×32px or 64×64px PNG/SVG shown in browser tabs. This is also what AI assistants and search engines show next to your brand.

3. Set your colours & gradients

Under Theme settings → Colours you control the scheme used across every section:

  • Accent 1 & Accent 2 — your primary brand colours, with optional gradient variants for each.
  • Background 1 & Background 2 — the two page backgrounds sections alternate between (Glow's demo alternates them to create rhythm down the homepage).
  • Text, buttons & outline buttons — label colours for solid and secondary buttons.

Every section also has a Colour scheme dropdown, so you can flip individual sections between schemes without touching global settings.

4. Typography

Under Theme settings → Typography, pick a heading font and body font from Shopify's font library (or upload your own), then scale the whole site with the heading scale and body scale sliders. Beauty brands typically pair a serif or high-contrast display heading font with a clean sans-serif body — the demo uses exactly this pattern.

5. Layout & global controls

  • Layout — page width, spacing between sections, and grid gaps.
  • Buttons, inputs, cards & popups — border thickness, corner radius and shadow for every interactive element, so the whole store stays visually consistent.
  • Product, collection & blog cards — card style, image padding, text alignment and colour scheme per card type.
  • Badges — badge position, corner radius, and colour schemes for sale and sold-out badges.

6. Building the homepage

The demo homepage stacks 13 sections. In the editor, click Add section to insert any of them, drag to reorder, and use each section's padding controls to tune vertical rhythm. The four Glow signature sections work like this:

Glow Featured Products

Choose a Collection, set Products to show (the demo uses 6), columns per row, image ratio, and toggle vendor, rating, secondary image on hover and quick add. Add a description and a "View all" link style to finish.

Glow Ingredients

Set the title and subheading, then add one ingredient block per active — each has an icon, title and description (e.g. "Signal peptides", "Hyaluronic acid", "Niacinamide"). Control columns per row for desktop and mobile.

Glow Results

Each result block shows a big stat (e.g. "94%"), a label ("saw improved hydration") and an optional description. Reference your study or review data in the subheading for credibility.

Glow Routine

Add numbered step blocks — title and description each — to present your products as a ritual: Cleanse, Treat, Hydrate. Three to five steps reads best.

Testimonials, trust badges & lookbook

Testimonials use blocks with an image, quote, author, subheading and star rating. Trust badges and the lookbook are configured with images and captions directly in the section settings.

8. Countdown timer

Add the Countdown timer section, write a heading and subheading, then set the End date and Timezone — the timer counts down live. Customise the day/hour/minute labels, write an expired message for when the deadline passes, and optionally add a button with a link. Use it for launches, flash sales and limited batches.

9. Before/after slider

Add the Before/after section and upload two images — Before image and After image — plus their labels. Drag the initial position slider to set where the divider starts (50% is the demo default). For best results use the same crop, lighting and framing in both images; shoppers read mismatches as manipulation.

10. Product page features

Under Theme settings → Premium theme:

  • Free shipping threshold — enter an amount to activate the progress bar in the cart drawer.
  • Stock counter — enable it and set the threshold below which the "only X left" urgency message appears.
  • Sticky add-to-cart (mobile) — keeps the buy button visible while scrolling long product pages on phones.
  • Sale & sold-out badge text — customise the wording shown on product cards.
  • Size guide page — pick a page from your admin to open in the size guide modal on product pages.
  • Back to top — adds the floating back-to-top button.

12. Social links & brand information

Theme settings → Social media takes your profile URLs — Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X/Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, Tumblr and Vimeo — and renders the icons in the footer. Under Brand information, add a headline, description and image that Shopify uses across the storefront and meta tags.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to edit code to customise the Glow theme?

No. Every customisation covered in this documentation — logo, colours, typography, homepage sections, featured products, countdown timers and more — is done through the Shopify theme editor, which you open from Online Store > Themes > Customise in your Shopify admin.

How do I change which products appear in the featured products section?

The Glow Featured Products section pulls products from a collection. Create or choose a collection in your Shopify admin (Products > Collections), then in the theme editor select the section and pick that collection under Collection. Use Products to show to control how many appear.

Where do I set the free shipping threshold?

In the theme editor, open Theme settings > Premium theme and enter your threshold in the Free shipping threshold field. The progress bar in the cart drawer updates automatically.

How do I update the before and after images?

Add or select the Before/after section on your homepage, then set the Before image and After image in the section settings. You can also rename the Before and After labels and drag the initial divider position.
